I am told that I need to include information about my achievements and accomplishments on my website because people who don’t know me may want to learn more about me and know these things. To be honest, I am completely uncomfortable telling you how I accomplished this or I achieved that and, therefore, I must be really great and you should hire me. I would much prefer that you hopefully come to the conclusion that I am a good lawyer and a good person on your own. I would much rather tell you that my greatest success in life is being a good, decent and loving husband and father of four wonderful children. Even more so, I would like to talk with you about you and your situation and how I may be able to help.
However, I do understand that my academic and professional accomplishments and achievements probably do reflect some on who I am and my abilities, so here is that information:
I attended Indiana University for undergraduate and then Indiana School of Law – Indianapolis. Because of the academic success that I experienced during my first year of law school, I was awarded the Forest E. Jump Scholarship, the School’s highest award, which was a full-ride scholarship for my second and third years of law school. I continued to experience tremendous academic success throughout law school and graduated summa cum laude, which is a distinction granted to the top 5% of the class.
During my 17 years of private law practice, I have been very fortunate to have been recognized by my fellow lawyers and judges, as well as various organizations, for my legal abilities. For example, Indianapolis Monthly magazine began publishing Indiana Super Lawyer recognitions beginning in 2004 and have continued doing so each year. Lawyers and judges from around the State nominate those lawyers they believe represent the top in the profession and less than 5% of practicing lawyers receive such recognition. I am humbled to say that I have been fortunate enough to have been recognized as a Super Lawyer in the field of medical malpractice, product liability and personal injury every single year that the survey has been conducted (2004-2012).
I have also been fortunate enough to receive an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest ranking possible, and this ranking, too, is based upon the review and evaluation of my legal colleagues.
I am also proud and humbled of the following recognitions:
Beginning in law school and then continuing once I entered private practice, I have been the published author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed law publications; further, I have frequently been invited to be a speaker at seminars that other lawyers attend to fulfill their continuing legal education requirements.
I am an involved member of numerous professional organizations including the AAJ Trucking Litigation Association, Interstate Trucking Litigation Group, American Association for Justice, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association and Indianapolis Bar Association.
